About TrustSecure
One of the challenges employees face at retirement is the cost of health insurance and other medical expenses. One tool to fund these financial obligations and provide post-employment benefits for employees is through a voluntary employee beneficiary association (VEBA).
A VEBA is a special type of tax-exempt trust authorized by Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(9) to provide employee benefits. In light of its unique status as a multiple employer VEBA, the WEA Trust has established a post-employment medical expense reimbursement plan called TrustSecure. TrustSecure allows eligible employers to make tax-exempt contributions on behalf of eligible employees (both active and/or retired) into an account, which can be used to reimburse post-employment qualified medical expenses. The funds in the account accrue on behalf of the employee and all contributions, earnings, and distributions are 100% tax-exempt.
